The one where thin privilege is being locked in a cupboard under the stairs.
malnourished is better than fat
[tw: child abuse, bad medical advice, starvation diet]
Thin privilege is not getting a note from your school nurse on your end-of-year report saying you are too fat and that your school uniforms don’t come in sizes big enough for your fat body.
Thin privilege is not being put on a starvation diet at age 14 just so you can fit into your school uniform. Instead of altering my school uniform pants to fit me, my mom made me go on a severe diet. Examples of meals- breakfast: only 1/4 of a grapefruit. lunch: cottage cheese with celery, etc..
Thin privilege is not having your entire family resent you because your mom forced the whole family to participate in your new “healthy diet.”
Mod note: It’s come to my attention that this is probably from Harry Potter? See my response, here. -ATL
Gold star for ArteToLife. Yes, this is a troll post.
haha, they are so dumb. I got them with this submission several months ago.
I was re-reading Harry Potter at the time and I thought I’d see what would happen…I was very pleased with the results.
The results include a response from ArteToLife, and one from Fatanarchy, and another one from MadGastronomer. They all insist that a fictional character’s fictional diet is still proof of thin privilege.
Let’s get this straight. Vernon and Petunia Dursley raised two boys. Fat Dudley was spoiled rotten, was given his every whim, but got put on a diet once. Skinny Harry was abused.
The following morning, [Uncle Vernon] paid a man to fit bars on Harry’s window. He himself fitted a cat-flap in the bedroom door, so that small amounts of food could be pushed inside three times a day. They let Harry out to use the bathroom morning and evening. Otherwise, he was locked in his room around the clock.
The cat-flap rattled, and Aunt Petunia’s hand appeared, pushing a bowl of canned soup into the room. Harry, whose insides were aching with hunger, jumped off his bed and seized it. The soup was stone-cold, but he drank half of it in one gulp… He put the empty bowl back on the floor next to the cat-flap and lay back down on the bed, somehow even hungrier than he had been before the soup.
Of all the fat characters in all the books and movies out there, the moderators of TiTP are standing by Dudley Dursley as their illustration of how poorly fat people are treated compared to thin people.
Have you no sense of decency, TiTP? At long last, have you left no sense of decency?
